About AHEC

Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon achieves its mission in several ways:

  • AHEC-SW focuses its resources on the healthcare needs of underserved/unserved populations.
  • AHEC-SW organizes and coordinates training opportunities for healthcare providers who treat the underserved/unserved to enable clinicians to keep abreast of emerging issues.
  • AHEC-SW places healthcare students in clinical rotation to motivate tomorrow's providers to start practices to reach the underserved/unserved in Oregon.
  • AHEC-SW encourages youth to pursue a career in healthcare.
  • AHEC-SW collaborates with communities in securing grants to help respond to the healthcare needs of the region.
  • AHEC-SW is guided by a Board of Directors consisting of representatives from the six counties we serve.
